DEFINITIONS:
Seated Course - A course that takes place on Niles Community Schools' property and is taught by a Highly Qualified teacher employed by the district.
Virtual Course - These are non-seated courses taken through Niles Virtual School.
Community Resource Application Partners (CR) Drop-in lab or Independent Study that takes place in the community under the tutelage of a knowledgeable instructor in the subject matter chosen and overseen by a Highly Qualified Teacher employed by Niles Community Schools. Is an optional application component of a Niles Virtual School virtual course. Community Resource Application Partners are sometimes referred to as "Community Experts" or "CEs."
INFORMATION:
Courses:
All courses in the Niles Virtual School are available to any student in the Niles Community School district. In addition, they are available to any home school student and/or some private school student in Michigan enrolled in the Niles Virtual School.
Eligible Grades:
Students in grades K-12.
Resident Requirement:
Homeschool students anywhere in Michigan are eligible with the following stipulations;
Minimum age:
Students must be age 5 by September 1. This is a Michigan State Law (MCL 380.1147).
Maximum age:
Students must be no older than 19 beginning September 1.
What is the maximum number of courses in which I may enroll?
What if my children attend a private school? Are they permitted to use the Partnership?
You are permitted to use Niles Virtual School if the following applies;
the private school you are attending DOES NOT accept funding from the State of Michigan or partners with another school district to offer courses within their school,
you are taking at least as many courses in the Private School as you are taking at Niles Virtual School,
the Niles Virtual School courses must be non-core.
This following is a list of private school, currently identified, as allowable.

- Cut off dates for registration are published.
- We reserve the right to cut off enrollment earlier if we reach our maximum enrollment.

- Kindergarten - 1 class**
- 1st - 8th Grades - 1 class**
- 9th - 11th Grades - 3 classes (Dual Enrollment classes on top of these)**
- 12 Grade - 5 classes (Dual Enrollment included)**
