The Niles Virtual School is a parent led program. Parents will be expected to monitor their learners progress and cheer them along the way on their learning journey. Parents of learners in grades K-5 will need to be actively involved in assisting their learners as they navigate their courses. Older learners will need less parental involvement, but every learner needs a cheerleader and parents fill that need best. The lessons are asynchronous which means that there will NOT be a live instructor giving instruction at specific times each day. This allows learners to progress at their own pace during the semester. Some of our courses are created by our own teachers and some are course created by vendors with our teachers monitoring learner progress.
Driven to Succeed
Our Dynamic Learners are made up of:
We believe students and parents utilizing Niles Public Schools should have options in education and are dedicated to providing them. Our courses provide additional choices for full time students both in mode of delivery and content. Our courses are designed to provide parents the added benefit of customizing their student’s schedules.
We believe homeschooling is a viable option for some students in our community, and we hope our varied options will compliment your student's education. We respect your choice to be the primary educator for your children. Our non-essential courses are a supplemental choice designed to enrich your homeschooler's experience.
Private schools are a valuable resource in Niles, and we hope our flexible schedule will meet your needs too. Our courses can similarly augment your student's private school schedule.
Our offerings are part of Niles Community Schools' vision to support the learning of every student residing in our district and beyond. Extending our educational support beyond the school walls and into Michigan is a small part of a larger plan to develop and grow Michigan into a vibrant state.
All courses offered through Niles Virtual School are available to any full time, home school or private school student whose residence is in Michigan and who is enrolled in the Niles Community School district.
